WHAT: Poverty and hunger are on the rise in New York City. This Thanksgiving, many working poor New Yorkers won’t be able to afford a decent meal because they are not earning a living wage. At this historic mass meeting, civil rights leaders, elected officials, faith leaders, labor leaders, and local residents will demand living wage jobs for all New Yorkers, and push for passage of the Fair Wages for New Yorkers Act, City Council legislation. This event is the latest in a series of major actions organized by Living Wage NYC, a large, diverse, and growing coalition representing New Yorkers from across the five boroughs. It will set the stage for a major City Council hearing on the legislation the following day in lower Manhattan.
